Chili at the Beach

June 16, 2018 | 11 AM - 4 PM

The annual Chili at the Beach competition determines the king or queen of the popular slow-cooked meal. Two dozen booths stretch along the first three blocks of Main Street, providing tastes of chili and salsa. Ticket holders stroll along with ballot cards making notes to help with the difficult decision of choosing their top two favorite chilis and salsas. At the same time, "blind" samples are collected to deliver to the private judges' area. For a quick chili break make your way down to the Huntington Beach Pier and Surf City USA beach

Tickets cost $10 advance, $15 day of event.

Chili at the Beach is taking place on Main Street.

Chili / Salsa Tasting Tickets are available online before the event for $10 or on the day of the event at three different Main Street locations, one on each block, for $15. Visitors are given a wristband to wear, which entitles them to unlimited tastings of chili and salsa (while supplies last.)

Everyone is encouraged to sample each of the booths and then vote for their favorite two chili tastes and favorite two salsa tastes. The event opens at 11 am. Ticket booths open at 10:45 am and close at 2 pm. People's choice ballots must be returned by 3 pm. Awards are presented on the Main and PCH stage at 5 pm.

With over seven categories like “Best Chili Name”, “People's Choice”, and “Judge's Choice,” contestants have the chance to win up to $500 in cash prizes. Simultaneously, salsa enthusiasts will be able to enter their precious salsa recipe for prizes, and for the glory of being the best salsa in the game. Proceeds from this event go to the Boys and Girls Club of Huntington Valley.
