Huntington City Beach is where the city meets the surf. With the landmark Huntington Beach Pier and easy proximity to downtown, Huntington City Beach is the hub of local beach life. The US Open of Surfing takes place here thanks to the world-class waves, along with a number of other annual beach events, while calm conditions near the shore are great for family swimming.
Huntington City Beach is located along Pacific Coast Highway, between Beach Boulevard and Goldenwest Street. The beach is free and open to the public from 5 am to 10 pm daily throughout the year. City Beach amenities include fire rings, beach volleyball courts, paved bike trail, public restrooms, cold-water showers and beach concessions. Beach concessionaires sell food and rent everything you could need for a day on the beach, including bicycles, surfboards, body boards, beach chairs, volleyballs and umbrellas. The famous Huntington Beach Pier bisects Huntington City Beach. The pier is free and open to the public from 5 am to midnight daily. Fishing is allowed from the pier without a license. Those without their own fishing gear can rent all the necessary items from Let's Go Fishing located near the end of the pier. Ruby's Diner, located at the far end of the pier, offers great ocean views while dining on classic burgers and shakes. The Surf City Store and Kite Connection sell perfect Huntington Beach souvenirs from their locations half-way down the pier.
Parking is located along the beach in both daily and hourly parking lots and at parking meters along Pacific Coast Highway. Daily parking is $15 for the day, with no in/out privileges. Hourly parking is $1.50 per hour. Please note these rates are subject to change at any time without notice and may increase for special events and holidays.
RV camping is allowed during the non-peak season. Please note there is no tent camping. For more information regarding RV camping on Huntington City Beach, visit the Sunset Vista RV Camping website. The park is popular and reservations must be made ahead of time.
Wheelchair access ramps and disabled parking spaces are located in the beach parking lots. Some concessionaires also offer beach wheelchairs free of charge on a first-come, first-serve basis. Disabled parking is free in hourly beach parking lots and at street parking meters. Disabled parking in daily beach parking lots is $10 per day. Be aware parking rates may change at any time without notice.
