Team Surf City USA^® Volunteer Program 

Visit Huntington Beach is seeking enthusiastic volunteers who are eager to share their love, passion, and insider knowledge of Surf City USA® with visitors from around the world. This volunteer experience offers a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of tourism and its vital role in supporting and strengthening our local community.

Volunteer Benefits

Volunteers receive the following in recognition of their service:

• Invitations to select Visit Huntington Beach staff activities and events
• VIP access to special events, when available
• Invitation to an end-of-year volunteer appreciation event

Volunteer Qualifications

• Comfortable being outdoors (beaches, parks, and parking lots) and indoors (venues and upscale resorts)
• Positive, customer-service oriented, and able to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities
• Committed to promoting an inclusive community where visitors of all backgrounds, identities, and abilities feel welcome in Surf City USA®
• Familiar with Huntington Beach businesses, visitor amenities, and transportation options
• Able to meet physical demands, including lifting up to 40 pounds and walking, standing, or sitting for the duration of a 4 to 6 hour shift (reasonable accommodations may be made with at least 72 hours' notice)
• Be 18 years of age or older at the time of application

Volunteer Commitments & Responsibilities

Volunteers are asked to:

• Commit to at least one 4 to 6 hour shift per month, including special events on both weekdays and weekends, and at least one shift during the US Open of Surfing (July 25-August 2, 2026)
• Gather and share accurate information about local amenities and attractions
• Assist Visit Huntington Beach staff with event setup, operations, and teardown
• Serve as a positive and professional ambassador for Visit Huntington Beach and the local tourism industry when interacting with visitors, partners, and the community
