There are various disc golf courses in Orange County however, Huntington Beach Disc Golf Course is among the most popular. The 15-acre Huntington Beach Disc Golf Course is the second oldest disc golf course in the world and is considered among the most beautiful and challenging courses in Southern California. The course is over 50 years old and back in 1979, Tom Kennedy won $50,000 in a disc golf tournament played here that was broadcast for ABC's "Wide World of Sports." 

Huntington Beach Disc Golf Course

Located along Goldenwest Street between Talbert Avenue and Ellis Avenue, the Huntington Beach Disc Golf Course is open daily from 9 AM to 7 PM and features a fully stocked pro shop that rents and sells discs, and gives lessons. An amateur league is open to the public and plays on Wednesday evenings. On Thursdays, they run a sanctioned PDGA (Professional Disc Golf Association) League. And every first Saturday of the month the course hosts a two-round tournament. 

The rules of disc golf relate to golf, but instead of hitting a ball with a club, you throw discs toward a metal target basket, which features a web of chains designed to deaden the impact of the disc and catch it. Each hole on the Huntington Beach 18-hole course has a determined par and putters and drivers are used (differently shaped discs) in a similar manner to golf course play. At Huntington Beach Disc Golf Course you are able to rent discs and receive some free basic instruction from a professional makes the course attractive to new players. Before hitting the course, practice at the various disc golf baskets available. Being in Huntington Central Park, the course is kid-friendly as well as pet-friendly with plenty of free parking. Bring some competitive friends and family and make a day out of playing disc golf in Huntington Beach.
