Let's be honest - you're in Surf City USA to spend time in or near the surf. With 276 days of sun in Huntington Beach, it's hard to stay away from the beaches. The sands are so inviting, in fact, they've won awards, including Best California Beach by USA Today

Make sure you load up on sunscreen before leaving your hotel room and bring plenty of water. Popular sunbathing locations include just north and just south of the iconic Huntington Beach Pier, where you can watch surfers and fishermen or make the short walk back up to Main Street to grab some beach eats.

SPEND TIME IN NATURE

There's no shortage of ways to get outdoors and get moving in Huntington Beach. We invite you to get out of your comfort zone and explore surfing, hiking, biking, kayaking, paddle boarding, and even horseback riding while you're here.

Numerous surf schools offer private and group lessons - all equipment included - for novice surfers at three of our five beaches.

One of the best ways to experience Huntington Beach is by cruising the 10-mile paved beach path on a bike. Look west to enjoy the stunning ocean views and east to see the famous Pacific Coast Highway. Beach concessionaires rent out and sell bicycles, surreys, and more along the route, which also offers plenty of places to stop for a bite, picnic, photo op, or bathroom break.

For a quaint seaside feel and picturesque scenery, explore Huntington Harbour up close and personal on a kayak or standup paddle board. Enjoy an afternoon in the sun while perusing through the canals lined with stunning homes and boats of all sizes.

Acres of outdoor space sprawl across inland Huntington Beach, and the best way to explore it is on horseback. Saddle up at the 154-acre Huntington Central Park Equestrian Center and roam the grassy hills with your new four-legged friend.

DO SOME SHOPPING

Retail therapy soothes the soul on vacation almost as well as a relaxing afternoon in the sun. Whether you're looking for some classic Surf City USA souvenirs, laid-back luxury and trendy boutiques, or a larger chain retailer, Huntington Beach suits just about everyone's style.

Shopping in downtown Huntington Beach blends convenience, selection, and the always-vibrant atmosphere. From charming souvenir stores to family-run surf shops to enchanting vintage selections, Main Street and Fifth Street make the perfect one-stop shop for all your "treat yourself" (and maybe your friends and family) moments.

A short walk south of Main Street takes you into Pacific City, a retail and dining hub offering even more unique and trendy shopping options. Meet in the heart of HB for the ultimate shopping experience complete with picture-perfect views of the Huntington Beach Pier.

Bella Terra, an outdoor mall inspired by the Tuscan villages of Italy, offers a relaxed al-fresco atmosphere and is conveniently located off the 405 and Beach Boulevard. It delivers a high-quality selection of department stores, boutiques, restaurants, bars, and even a movie theater and an open-air beer and wine garden.

One of the best shopping centers in Huntington Beach, 5 Points Plaza blends style, convenience, and value. 5 Points has been a Surf City USA staple since 1961 and includes a wide variety of fashion retailers, services, and plenty of food options.

PICK YOUR EVENING VIBE

No Spring Break would be complete without exploring the local nightlife. Lounges, breweries, distilleries, bars, loud DJ parties - you name it, you can find it in Huntington Beach. In fact, the warmer weather makes it the perfect time to explore the Surf City USA Barrel Trail - a collection of 12 craft breweries, distilleries, and tasting rooms offering exclusive discounts and deals simply for visiting. Earn prizes as you check-in to each participating location with their unique four-digit code.

For family-friendly fun, the busiest night on Main Street, Surf City Nights Street Fair and Farmers Market, takes place every Tuesday night. Grab some fresh produce, find locally made souvenirs or enjoy the live entertainment on the first 3 blocks of Main Street and first block of 5th Street. Come hungry for the food vendors and countless Taco Tuesday deals at Downtown eateries.

If you're more so looking to get away from the crowds, spend an evening with just friends and family at a classic Huntington Beach beach bonfire. Three out of five of Surf City USA's beaches offer public fire pits, including Huntington City Beach, Huntington State Beach, and Bolsa Chica State Beach (these are all available on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to plan ahead and claim one). The Huntington Beach House offers an exclusive bonfire pit complete with food and a full bar, while our oceanfront resorts offer fire pits accompanied by s'mores and cocktails.
