The International Surfing Association World Surfing Games comes to Surf City USA® from September 16 - 24, 2022 for the first time since 2006. Huntington Beach has played a historic role in the sport of surfing, having hosted top-tier global events. The 2022 ISA World Surfing Games will be the seventh major ISA event held in Huntington Beach after the city hosted three editions of the Games in 1984, 1996, and 2006, as well as the ISA World Juniors in 2005, 2018, and 2019. You might not be much of a surfer yourself, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy watching professional surfers tear up some gnarly waves in Huntington Beach by the pier. The ISA World Surfing Games is the first stop to qualify for Paris 2024 Olympic Games. As a significant innovation to the Olympic Surfing Qualification System, the winning men's and women's National Teams at these World Surfing Games will be allocated one Olympic slot each for their respective country/National Olympic Committee (NOC).

There will be a parade in downtown Huntington Beach along with an opening ceremony. 50 plus country flags flying and the top surfing athletes from around the world will be in Huntington Beach to celebrate the sport of surfing the start of the World Surfing Games will be spectacular and special. On the last day of the competition, there will be a closing ceremony in Pier Plaza awarding the countries that won the World Surfing Games.
