2026 Surf City USA® Foodie Awards Best Brewery Winner: Riip Beer Co.

Riip Beer

Riip Beer Co. has come a long way from homebrewing. Dubbed the “millennial milkmen” by the OC Register for their delivery services out of a Helms truck back in 2015, Riip’s founders have since found a way to turn their passion into an award-winning business.

Recently named the 2026 Best Brewery, they’re among an elite group of Huntington Beach restaurants and bars who share a claim-to-fame as back-to-back winners of the 2026 Surf City USA® Foodie Awards. Locals and craft beer aficionados alike love their creative brews, which include award winners that have stood up against global competitors and limited collaboration brews.

Stop by the Sunset Beach tasting room for a flight of three-ounce pours and a view of Riip’s facility where you can watch the brewers at work. There’s no food on the menu, but the 2025 Surf City USA® Foodie Awards winner for Best Pizza is right next door.

5 Riip Beers to Try

At any given time, Riip has 20 rotating beers on tap, all exclusively brewed in-house. Check the menu boards (literally — skateboards) hanging on the wall for the day’s selections.

1. The award-winners

Riip is no stranger to racking up awards. In 2026 alone, the crew brought home hardware from international brewing competitions, vying for top honors on the global stage. At the 2026 World Beer Cup, an annual conference held by the Brewers Association, Riip brought home four medals despite stiff competition from 1,644 breweries across 50 countries. Its Mexican-style lager, Nueve Grados, was a favorite, taking silver out of 33 entries in the category. Riip also won bronze in three categories: New Zealand-style IPA (Wannabe Wallaby), American-style brown ale (Pacifist Pelican), and American-style black ale (Blackside Snap). One of the newest brews to be packaged and canned in Surf City USA® is the dangerously drinkable Chaos Creation, the IPA Silver winner at the 2026 Japan Breers Cup in 2026.

2. The collabs

Riip has teamed up with some of the best in the biz to roll out collaboration beers that are as limited as they are unique. In honor of SF Beer Week this year, for example, Riip and Faction Brewing introduced Reverse Rotation, a light-bodied West Coast pilsner. The team also collabed with another NorCal brewery in April, creating Let It Riip with their friends at Cellarmaker Brewing Co for the Week of Dankness — a West Coast IPA with a big hop character. No two collabs are the same and they rarely stick around long, so if you see one on the menu, it’s always a must-order.

3. West Coast IPAs

The West Coast IPA has a ramped-up hoppiness that can be hard to get right — unless you’re an award-winning brewery like Riip, which is celebrated in the industry as the grand champion of this style. It won the Best of the West Coast India Pale Ale National Throwdown in back-to-back years with its Riip’n Greens in 2024 and Danky Doodle Dandy in 2023, but locals love Riip’s OG brew from the vaults. The signature Dan-K is always a taproom favorite with its tropical, citrusy, and dry notes.

4. Something light and “Riip’able”

Dankness may not be for everyone, and while hops may be Riip’s bread and butter it’s not all this talented crew can do. Raise a glass of Jetty Water and toast to Huntington Beach’s endless sunshine with a smooth American blonde ale. Fans of seltzers might enjoy the Black Fang: Tigers Blood, inspired by the watermelon, strawberry, and coconut flavor profile reminiscent of the Hawaiian shave ice.

5. A can fresh from your fridge

Is there a better way to remember your vacay to Surf City USA® than to crack open a cold one once you’re settled back in at home? While you can take almost any beer on tap back to your hotel with you in a 32-ounce aluminum crowler that’s filled to-go, Riip also offers direct beer shipping anywhere in California with next-day delivery. If you’re outside the Golden State, the next best thing may be to stock your shelves with glassware like the Riip Lite pint glass — an ode to the brewery’s infinitely drinkable American light lager.
