Appointment positions Huntington Beach among industry leaders shaping the future of global destination leadership

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (July 22, 2026) - Visit Huntington Beach’s President & CEO John Urdi has been appointed to the Destinations International Foundation Board of Trustees, joining a distinguished group of tourism leaders committed to advancing innovation, education and the leadership development of destinations around the world.

Urdi's appointment reflects his leadership within the destination marketing industry while further strengthening Visit Huntington Beach's role as a respected voice on the national stage. Through the Foundation Board, he will help advance initiatives that strengthen destination organizations, support local economies and prepare communities for the future of travel.

As a Foundation Board trustee, Urdi will help guide initiatives that support research, education, leadership development and innovation, equipping destination organizations to meet emerging opportunities and challenges while fostering economic growth and community prosperity.

Urdi's appointment comes as tourism continues to play an important role in Huntington Beach's economy. In 2025, the industry supported 5,532 local jobs and generated $585 million in direct visitor spending. Through his service on the Foundation Board, Visit Huntington Beach will continue to bring global insights and industry partnerships home to benefit the community, its tourism partners and the local economy.
