Huntington Beach residents love being outdoors, so it's no surprise that Surf City USA offers miles of trails for outdoor enthusiasts.
The 8.5-mile long Ocean Strand is a paved path that runs along the Huntington Beach coastline. Voted one of the top 10 coastal trails in the United States by Coastal Living Magazine, the Ocean Strand allows bikers, joggers, walkers and skaters to enjoy the ocean breeze and panoramic ocean views. Beach concessions along the path rent bicycles by the hour or day. Pedego in downtown Huntington Beach rents electric bikes for those who want a little assistance. The Ocean Strand also connects to the Santa Ana River Trail for an additional 110 miles of recreation, ending in Big Bear Lake high in the San Bernardino Mountains.
Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve offers 5 miles of trails through the restored wetlands. See over 200 species of birds and marine life while appreciating the ocean view. For those who want to take a more relaxing walk, join one of the free tours given by local environmental organizations.
Huntington Central Park's 365 acres offers miles of trails and walking paths. The World Trail is a 1.2 mile loop that offers 18 exercise stations over a 25 acre area. While in Central Park, take a jaunt through the ¾ miles of trails through Shipley Nature Center.
