Bolsa Chica State Beach is located across Pacific Coast Highway from the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve. A shallow shelf accounts for smaller waves, making this the perfect place to hone your surfing skills. Bolsa Chica is well known for its grunion runs during the summer months. Grunions spawn only on California beaches, require a permit to catch and may only be captured by hand. Additionally, this beach is an excellent place for surf fishing where you can commonly catch perch, corbina, croaker, cabezon and sand sharks. Bolsa Chica State Beach also offers 50 RV campsites with electric and water hookups for self- contained RVs. Picnic tables, volleyball courts, outdoor showers, restrooms, and bonfire pits are available from 6:00am to 10:00pm daily.
