Huntington Beach Car Shows

Huntington Beach takes its wheels almost as seriously as its waves, and here, where the woodie is the city's official car, lovers of vintage vehicles will find plenty of eye candy around town.

Dubbed "the largest and most well-known casual hot rod gathering in the world," the early morning meet-up of The Donut Derelicts classic car club is your chance to see everything from backyard "rat rods" to rare concept cars. The group gets together from 6 am to 9 am at Adams Avenue Donuts on Saturday mornings.  Or on Friday nights, roll on over to Beach Burger for another big gathering of Surf City car buffs.

"If Detroit built it to go fast, we've got it" is the motto at Surf City Garage, where you can take free tours and see more than 100 vintage American muscle cars, including Camaros, Shelbys, and Corvettes. Tours are given by reservation only.  Visit the Surf City Garage website for more information.  Surf City Garage also holds its annual Surf City Garage Car Show each August, where visitors are given the opportunity to tour the private collection without a reservation and to view or show off their own muscle car.

With an unsurpassed gathering of Volkswagen transporters, Nomads, woodies, and other vehicles built in 1967 or earlier, March's annual Huntington Beachcruiser Meet in downtown Huntington Beach shows off the close ties between the car and surf cultures.

In April, the annual Huntington Beach Cruise-in Car Show at Pier Plaza, next to the Huntington Beach Pier, features more than 100 hot rods and newly built Factory Five demo cars, plus surf music bands. Then in June, the Huntington Beach Concours d'Elegance, one of the country's finest auto events, returns to Huntington Central Park with classic cars, motorcycles, trikes, and even bicycles from around the world.
