With a nickname like "Danger Woman" it is of little surprise that Kim Hamrock's reputation as a fearless surfer precedes her. A late starter to wave riding, she was born in 1960 in Whittier, California, but did not begin surfing until the age of 16. She earned her chops surfing Huntington and Trestles during the 1970s and '80s. With numerous first place finishes throughout her career, she has been awarded 12 US Championship Titles, as well as, a World Longboard Title in 2002 after turning pro in longboarding in 1998. In 2005, she was named 'Woman of the Year' and inducted into the Surfing Walk of Fame. Kim is no doubt a pioneer in surfing being one of the most versatile woman surfers ever. She is known worldwide for her skills and ability to ride any length of surfboard and surf any size waves inspiring both men and women.
