This year, take your New Year’s fitness resolution to the beach. In Surf City USA, the workout choices are endless. Catch some waves at the beachbike, along the sand, check out a spin class, or hop on a paddle board in Huntington Beach Harbour. Here are a few of our favorite spots to get sweatin’ in the city.

Paddle Boarding

Zack’s HB

Zack’s is your one-stop shop for bike and surfboard rentals right by the Huntington Beach Pier. Hop on a beach cruiser and ride along the shore, or peddle with friends and family on a tandem or double bike. If you’re surfing for the first time, no problem! Zack’s has all the boards, wetsuits, and equipment you’ll need. Be sure to book a lesson with an instructor before you ride the waves.

Huntington Harbor Boat Rentals

Looking to paddle out into calmer waters? Head to Huntington Harbor Boat Rentals for stand-up paddle boarding or Kayaking. These are perfect activities for those who want to be on the water, but not in the water. Don’t forget to wear your life jacket! If you’re a first-time paddle boarder, book a private lesson with Rocky McKinnon here.

Beatbike Huntington Beach

For a high-energy, cardio workout, try a spin class at Beatbike. It will hardly feel like a workout with the blaring music and an encouraging instructor to keep you moving. If you’re not a spin pro, don’t worry. Beatbike provides towels, spin shoes, chilled towels, and lockers for your use. Check out their website to sign up for a class.

Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve

If you’re not into hardcore workouts, simply take a stroll around the wetlands and trails of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve. The grounds are home to nearly 200 bird species each year, and you’re sure to spot a few rare species during your walk. Feel free to take a few laps around the trails at your leisure, or schedule a walking tour with the Interpretive Center on site.
