Closure of All Metered Parking on PCH
Effective this evening, April 16th until further notice, the City of Huntington Beach will close all metered parking along both sides of Pacific Coast Highway, in the interest of limiting beach visitations and promoting social distancing during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Previously, only beachside metered parking between 6th Street and Goldenwest Street had been closed to the public. However, those closures have now been extended throughout Pacific Coast Highway within City boundaries.
Given the critical importance of flattening the curve of COVID-19 cases, the metered parking closures will help reinforce Governor Gavin Newsom’s Stay-At-Home Executive Order. These closures follow the City’s recent decisions to close the Huntington Beach Pier, beach parking lots, and grass areas adjacent to the City beach path to minimize public gatherings, while still providing limited open space for the community to get exercise while diligently maintaining social distance. The Executive Order urges Californians to only leave their homes for essential needs and to practice social distancing as the best way to flatten the curve.
Enforcement of Metered Parking Closures
The Huntington Beach Police Department will patrol ALL metered stalls along Pacific Coast Highway. Any vehicles parked illegally in these metered stalls starting April 17th will be ticketed and/or towed. Please do not park in any nearby residential neighborhoods, as parking throughout the City has been limited due to residents staying at home during the Order. The Huntington Beach Police Department will also add additional patrols in the neighborhoods near the beaches to assist with parking and overcrowding issues.
Please be mindful that this is only a temporary closure that will have lasting impacts by saving lives and bringing an end to this pandemic.
Closure of All Beaches in Huntington Harbor
All beaches within Huntington Harbor will be closed starting April 17 until further notice. These beaches include, but are not limited to:
- Davenport Beach
- Humboldt Beach
- Trinidad Beach
- Seabridge Park Beach
- All harbor beaches along Pacific Coast Highway in Sunset Beach
These Huntington Harbor beach closures will further limit public gatherings in the interest of slowing the transmission of COVID-19 in our community. For more information about City updates and services during the pandemic, please call our HB Ready Call Center at (714) 536-5511 or visit our COVID-19 website at www.HBready.com.
