Shipley Nature Center
Huntington Beach Central Park is one of the jewels of the city; and one of the jewels of Central Park is the Shipley Nature center.
Sitting on 18 acres in the park, the Shipley Reserve pays homage to the birds, wildlife and indigenous plants that call Huntington Beach home. It features over 4,000 square feet of hiking trails that wind through varied habitats including wildflower meadows, wetlands, oak woodlands and Torrey pines.
The center hosts birding tours and interactive outdoor classes for kids. It also features wildlife and birding exhibits, wildflower gardens and an interpretive center — an important attribute for the nearly 20,000 kids that come through Shipley Nature Center each year.
