Huntington Beach Surf Events & More

The miles of shoreline in Huntington Beach offer more than just water and sand. Catch the US Open of Surfing in July for over a week of not only the world’s best surfers, but also BMX Biking, skateboarding, freestyle motocross competitions and other sports on the beach.

If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to catch the famous Grunion Run.  A couple of times a year, the grunion fish make a rare, brief appearance onto the sand to spawn. It’s quite a sight, and you can even walk around and catch them with your bare hands.

Huntington Beach also plays host to other major on-beach events such as the HB Pro Am Surfing Series Competition, AVP Men's and Women's Pro Beach Volleyball Tournament and the largest youth action sports event in the country, Boardfest.
