Beach Events

The miles of shoreline in Huntington Beach offer more than just water and sand. Catch the US Open of Surfing in July for over a week of not only the world’s best surfers, but also BMX Biking, skateboarding and freestyle motocross competitions.

If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to catch the famous Grunion Run.  A couple of times a year, the grunion fish make a rare, brief appearance onto the sand to spawn. It’s quite a sight, and you can even walk around and catch them with your bare hands.

Huntington Beach also plays host to other major on-beach events such as the HB Pro Am Surfing Series Competition, AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tournament and the largest youth action sports event in the country, Boardfest.
